Facing
Adversity
Together

Broken-down communities invite social problems such as addiction, homelessness, poverty and isolation.

Reestablishing community is key to eliminating these problems.

Our History

Community Central has been bringing people together for over 25 years. First starting as Open Door Youth Center. Over the past decade, we have expanded our services to members of all ages. Through our experience we have learned that the breakdown of communities can be halted and even reversed. Through our work we have impacted hundreds of lives- our members thank us for the difference that we’ve made,

This place is the reason I didn’t follow in the destructive footsteps of my parents and siblings.

This place is the reason I didn’t follow in the destructive footsteps of my parents and siblings. This place is what got me through the hardest years of my life. This place is why I finished high school and went to college, why I have a job. This place kept me on a right path.

Our Mission

Be a voice for the neglected and disenfranchised in our community, who for various reasons have not been given a chance to fit in.
Initiate and maintain conversations about the invisible barriers that keep people separated, such as differences in race, culture, personal beliefs or socio-economic status.
Empower those who come through our doors by offering community workshops that teach practical and interpersonal skills.
Establish consistent connections between the community and local entities—government, schools, churches, etc.—such that the needs and ideas of the community are central, and the various entities contribute toward novel solutions from a posture of listening and learning.

Building Community

We are a faith based organization that creates a space for those who may not be comfortable in traditional representations of the body of Christ. We will be a shelter for “the one,” loving them and growing them into maturity until they are ready to rejoin “the ninety-nine.”

If a man owns 100 sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the 99 on the hills and go and look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will be happier about that one sheep than about the 99 that did not wander off
